IPTV on Apple TV: iPlayTV and GSE Smart IPTV in 5 Minutes

Compatible with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K of any generation. The player is installed from the App Store directly on the device, and the login data is taken from the Utgard TV account — the easiest way is to log in using the username and code (Xtream Codes), then the channels, program guide, and archive are automatically loaded.

What You Will Need

  • Utgard TV account with an active package or a trial for 2 hours.
  • From the “Playlist” section of the account: the “Xtream Codes” block (server, username, password) or a universal M3U link.
  • Apple TV with internet; having an iPhone nearby will speed up the input.

Long addresses on Apple TV are conveniently entered using an iPhone: as soon as the input field appears on the device's screen, a notification “Apple TV Keyboard” pops up on the phone — tap it and paste the copied value.

Step 1. iPlayTV — the Most Convenient Player for Apple TV

  1. Open the App Store on Apple TV, find iPlayTV, and install it (the app is paid, one-time purchase).
  2. On the home screen, select “Add Playlist”.
  3. Select “Xtream Server”: enter the name, address http://xc.tv.utgard.tv, username, and password from the “Xtream Codes” block. The second option is “M3U URL” with a link to the playlist from the account.
  4. Save: iPlayTV will load channels by groups, the TV program, and mark channels with archives.

Step 2. GSE Smart IPTV — a Free Alternative

  1. Install GSE Smart IPTV from the App Store and open the side menu.
  2. To log in with a username, select “Xtream-Codes API” → “Add” and enter the server, username, and password. For the link — “Remote Playlists” → “plus” → “Add M3U URL”.
  3. Open the added source: channels are organized by groups, and the program loads automatically.

Step 3. If It's Easier to Watch from iPhone

Any player on iPhone or iPad can send the picture to Apple TV via AirPlay: open the channel and tap the AirPlay icon. For daily viewing, however, the app on the device itself is more convenient — it remembers favorites and shows the program on the remote.

If Something Isn't Working

  • “Invalid username or password”. The password is the playlist code from the account, not the account password; the server address must be entered in full, including http://.
  • One channel “Subscription not active”. The package is unpaid or the trial is not enabled. Activate the package in the account and refresh the source in the app.
  • No TV program. When logging in via Xtream, the program comes automatically. For the M3U link, specify the program address from the account: https://tv.utgard.tv/epg/epg.xml.gz.
  • Picture is breaking up. For HD, 5 Mbps is sufficient, for 4K — about 25; connect the device with a cable.
