IPTV on a computer: Windows, macOS and Linux

Works on any desktop or laptop. VLC is the simplest way: no registration, no settings. Kodi suits you if you want a TV guide and a TV-like interface.

What you need

  • A Utgard TV account with an active package or the 24-hour trial.
  • Your playlist link from the “Playlist” section of your account.

No account yet? Create an account and start the trial: only an email is needed, no card.

Step 1. Copy the playlist link

In your account open “Playlist” and press “Copy link”. Kodi takes the same link as the playlist address; for VLC the .m3u file downloaded from the same page also works.

Step 2. VLC (Windows, macOS, Linux)

  1. Install VLC from the official site.
  2. In the “Media” menu choose “Open Network Stream” (on macOS “File”, “Open Network”), paste the link from your account and press “Play”.
  3. Open the playlist with Ctrl+L (Cmd+Option+P on macOS): channels appear as a list, double-click starts a channel.

You can also download the .m3u file from your account and open it with a double click: VLC shows the same list. VLC does not display a TV guide; for that use Kodi or a TV player.

Step 3. Kodi with a TV guide

  1. Install Kodi, open “Add-ons”, then “My add-ons”, “PVR clients” and “PVR IPTV Simple Client”. If the client is missing, install it from the Kodi repository.
  2. In the client settings set the source type to “Remote path” and paste the playlist link into the M3U address field.
  3. In the EPG section enter the guide address http://epg.one/epg.xml and enable the client.
  4. Restart Kodi: the “TV” section shows channels with the guide and logos.

Troubleshooting

  • One channel, “Subscription not active”. Pay for a package or start the trial, then open the link again.
  • VLC does not open the link. Make sure it was pasted in full, including the part after the question mark. Download the .m3u file and open it.
  • Kodi shows no guide. The guide takes a few minutes to load after the first start. Check the EPG address and refresh the data in the client settings.
  • The picture breaks up. HD needs 5 Mbps, 4K about 25. Wi-Fi may drop packets, use a cable.
