IPTV on Android TV and set-top boxes: 5-minute setup
Works on Android TV and Google TV sets, Xiaomi Mi Box, Nvidia Shield, Amazon Fire TV and any Android box. The app comes from Google Play, the playlist from your Utgard TV account.
What you need
- A Utgard TV account with an active package or the 24-hour trial.
- Your playlist link from the “Playlist” section of your account.
- A box or TV connected to the internet.
No account yet? Create an account and start the trial: only an email is needed, no card.
Step 1. Copy the playlist link
In your account open “Playlist” and press “Copy link”. The easiest way is to open the account on your phone and type the link into the app with the on-screen keyboard; OTT Navigator and TiviMate also accept input from the Google TV remote app.
Step 2. Install an app and add the playlist
OTT Navigator (free, our pick for boxes)
- Install OTT Navigator from Google Play.
- Open “Settings”, then “Provider” and “Add provider”.
- Choose “Playlist”, then “URL”, paste the link from your account and give it a name.
- The app loads channels, logos and the TV guide. Catch-up on popular channels is available with the rewind button.
TiviMate
- Install TiviMate and choose “Add playlist” at first launch.
- Choose “M3U playlist”, enter the link from your account, press “Next”.
- Name the playlist; the TV guide is picked up from the playlist automatically.
The basic version is free; recording and multiple playlists are part of the paid TiviMate Premium. You do not need it to watch Utgard TV.
Televizo
- Install Televizo, press “plus” and choose “Add playlist”.
- Choose “URL”, paste the link from your account, save.
Installing from a USB stick
If the box has no Google Play or typing the link is inconvenient, the “Playlist” section of your account has a PDF guide: the playlist and the player’s installer are copied to a USB stick and installed on the TV through a file manager.
Step 3. TV guide, catch-up and quality
The guide is already in the playlist; if an app asks for an EPG address separately, enter http://epg.one/epg.xml. Catch-up and timeshift work on popular channels; OTT Navigator and TiviMate mark such channels with an icon.
5 Mbps is enough for HD, about 25 for 4K. Do not push weak 1 GB boxes with 4K channels: pick the HD versions.
Troubleshooting
- One channel, “Subscription not active”. The package is not active. Pay or start the trial and refresh the playlist in the app.
- Channels keep buffering. Connect the box by cable, close background apps, enable hardware decoding in the player settings.
- No sound or picture on some channels. Switch the decoder in the app settings (hardware to software or back).
- The app does not see package changes. Refresh the playlist manually in the provider settings.
