IPTV on Samsung Smart TV: 5-minute setup
Works on Samsung TVs running Tizen, roughly all models since 2016. No set-top box needed: the app comes from Samsung Apps and the playlist from your Utgard TV account.
What you need
- A Utgard TV account with an active package or the 24-hour trial.
- Your playlist link from the “Playlist” section of your account.
- A TV connected to the internet, preferably by cable.
No account yet? Create an account and start the trial: only an email is needed, no card.
Step 1. Copy the playlist link
Open your account on a phone or computer, go to “Playlist” and press “Copy link” next to the universal M3U8 link. The link is personal: it already contains your login and access code. If an app only accepts a file, the same page has “Download .m3u8” and “Download .m3u”.
Step 2. Install an app and add the playlist
SS IPTV (free)
- On the TV open Samsung Apps, search for SS IPTV and install it.
- Launch the app, open “Settings” (gear icon), then “Content” and “External playlists”.
- Press “Add”, enter any name and paste the link from your account. Save.
- Go back to the app’s home screen: the playlist appears as a tile with channels sorted by group.
If typing the link with the remote is inconvenient: in SS IPTV settings press “Get code”, then on ss-iptv.com upload the playlist with that code and the link. It appears in the app.
Smart IPTV (one-time activation)
- Install Smart IPTV from Samsung Apps and launch it. The app shows a MAC address.
- On siptv.eu enter that MAC, paste the playlist link into the URL field and send.
- Restart the app. Channels load automatically.
The app is free for the first days and then asks for a one-time activation per MAC address. That fee goes to the app developer and is not part of the Utgard TV subscription.
OTT Player (free)
- Register at ottplayer.tv and add the Utgard TV playlist link in the website account.
- Install OTT Player from Samsung Apps and sign in with the same email and password.
- The playlist loads from your OTT Player account; channels appear right away.
Step 3. TV guide, catch-up and quality
The TV guide is embedded in the playlist, nothing to configure. If an app asks for an EPG address, enter http://epg.one/epg.xml. Catch-up and timeshift work on popular channels: in SS IPTV and Smart IPTV rewind is available where the channel shows an archive icon.
5 Mbps is enough for HD, about 25 for 4K. If the picture breaks up in the evening, connect the TV by cable: apartment-block Wi-Fi is most congested in the evening.
Troubleshooting
- The list has one channel, “Subscription not active”. No paid package or trial. Activate a package in your account and refresh the playlist in the app.
- The app rejects the link. Make sure the whole link was copied, including the part after the question mark. Try the .m3u file instead of .m3u8.
- A channel opens but the screen is black. Try another channel and another app: SS IPTV and OTT Player use different players.
- Channels did not update right away. After changing packages the app has to reload the playlist: SS IPTV has a refresh button, Smart IPTV needs a restart.
